Is having an ultrasound at every monthly visit safe?

It is common practice in Europe to have frequent ultrasounds. I had my first at 3 weeks and about once a month up til the end. However, I’ve read quite a bit on it, and there is a lot of controversy. Some studies show it might cause mild brain damage (same with ultrasonic fetal heart monitors), and there is defintely a movement in Britain calling against their overuse. The general concensus is that it is safe, but in order to really know, they need to monitor children for years and years…unfortunatly it is too new a practice to be 100% sure.
