Is having a visitation time beneficial to us?
Visitation provides a variety of benefits. Whether a public visitation or simply a small family visitation is chosen, visitation provides closure. Having the opportunity to say goodbye is very important in the grieving process. All too often in our society, we watch as loved ones go through sometimes long and painful illnesses. The opportunity to spend time and view our loved ones in a more comfortable and peaceful setting away from the hospitals, medicines and machines helps us focus more on their life and less on any pain and struggling they may have endured. Visitation also provides the community with benefits. It provides a time of mourning and an opportunity to form a network of support for the family.
