Is having a similar background or culture important for an interracial relationship to work?
Not necessarily. In most cases, having different cultures and background is the primary appeal of getting involved in an interracial relationship in the first place. But if you have common backgrounds then you will have more in common and be able to relate to one another. In either case, both heighten the appeal of interracial relationships.
