Is Harvards President Unfairly Singling Out Black-Studies Professors for Scrutiny?
To the Editor: The controversy surrounding Lawrence H. Summers and Cornel West raises a number of very troubling questions (“Battle of Wills at Harvard,” January 18). Reports of President Summers’s meeting with Professor West indicate that Summers questioned West’s involvement with the Rev. Al Sharpton, his production of a rap recording, and allegations of grade inflation.
