Is Guiding Light(soap opera) going off the air?
Yes the rumor is true. It was confirmed on April 1, 2009 that that Guiding Light will be going off the air due to low ratings. Supposedly, talks are being done about possibly airing the soap on a cable station. The notion is many women who once stayed at home during the day are now working, which has negatively impacted the ratings. GL has made some changes many watchers were not pleased with. (myself included) I stopped watching it over a year ago because the story lines started to gett boring and outrageous all at the same time. I recently started back up after I had my daughter. The new taping method is innovative and cheap, however it may have made a bad impact on it’s ratings. I believe the new recording method along with the switch to mornings was a bad mix altogether. A friend of mine told me the minute the soap went to mornings, it was going to be doomed. He was right, and he said this over 3 years ago! I’m sad to see it go,I hope they can work something out.
