Is Greenshield a centrally-planned, command-and-control energy policy?
Back to FAQs No. The government should not be at the helm of Greenshield, nor should it be picking the winners and losers in meeting the objectives of Greenshield. That is a formula for stagnation and failure. US and Canadian leaders will articulate the vision and inspire their governments to get out of the way of those who will do the job. Regulations and red tape must be streamlined to assure that the interests of the North American people, specifically energy self-sufficiency and national security, trump all bureaucratic impulses. As in any period of conflict, special war measures may be needed to deny our enemy the ability to sabotage national security through special interest groups and frivolous legal challenges. Greenshield will be the sum total of thousands of private and public initiatives, many tried and discarded, by industry, research institutions, individuals, academics and government. Each player will know the objectives of Greenshield, but no central government planner w
