IS GREEN BUILDING A FAD?
While green building is not as common as conventional construction, there are many successful nonprofit, government and private green buildings in the U.S. According to the U.S. Green Building Council (www.usgbc.org), between five and ten percent of all commercial construction in this country is pursuing designation under its LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™. Many federal, state and local government agencies have committed to green buildings, as well as nonprofit organizations at both the national and local level.
