Is greed really the root of all evil?
Yes, I think greed is the root of all evil. Selfishness is a product of greed, not the other way around. Selfishness is allowing greed to motivate you; you can’t be selfish unless you are greedy. in fact i defy anyone to come up with an act of evil NOT stemming from greed. Each of the Seven Deadly sins stems from greed. it’s listed among them, but if you think about it all the rest can be condensed into it. Lust/promiscuity is greed applied to Sex. Glutonny is greed applied to food Envy is greed applied to posession. Wrath stems from not having greedy desires satiated. Pride and Vanity are closely linked, both being a greedy want of good opinion i’m not sure how to work out Sloth, but i’m sure it’s there.
