Our Constitution isn’t contained in one document, but in various acts of Parliament, including ‘magna carta’, the ‘act of union’, precedent etc. We have a Constitutional Monarchy with the Crown still retaining special reserve powers, including the power to dissolve a Government deemed to be acting unconstitutionally. That is why the Monarch is head of the armed forces the police and the courts. And it is ‘her Majesties Government’. Even in America, their Constitution is not contained in one document, but in a whole library of supporting legislation and case history, including the precepts established by the British ‘Magna Carta.
