Is Great Britain ready for a black Prime Minister?
No what happened in the USA is unlikely to happen in the UK because situation is completely different. Firstly because unlike in the Democrat Party in the USA, in Britain with just15 black Labour MPs and 2 black Tory MPs in the Commons, neither Labour, Conservative nor Liberal-Democrat MPs would be likely to elect a black man or woman to lead their party because they would be likely to believe it would severely damage their own chance of getting re-elected at next General Election. They are likely to conclude it could probably mean the end of their cushy job with its huge salary and expenses and a transfer to job seekers allowance. Secondly there would at present not appear to be any black MP in any of the three Parties that has the qualities and experience to be the Party’s Leader with the possible exception of Diane Abbot Labour MP for Hackney North who is heavily plugged by the BBC. But she has no Ministerial experience as yet and is too much of a rebel to be considered appropriate
