Is GM involved in the X Prize?
Diamandis: We have had many conversations with the executives at General Motors and we remain hopeful that in the remaining months of registration time, they will register to compete in the manufacturer’s class. In fact, we created the manufacturer’s class to provide them a platform because we recognize that there’s a difference between a car that’s actually in production, and a car that has the ability to go into production. And so, we wanted to allow them the flexibility to show their stuff in a highly visible fashion. And, we’ll wait and see. TreeHugger: The X Prize Foundation recently gave the Obama team the thumbs-up for supporting higher fuel economy standards and also supporting California and other states in setting their own greenhouse gas emission standards. Do you have other suggestions that you would pass on to the Obama administration?
