What I will touch on is the subconscious notion this article brings to anyone looking up to Gina Carano as a role model, especially young girls. As much as society and mass advertising breed insecurity and low self esteem into young women as it is, it also feels the need to put the issue of weight on blast every chance it gets. While I know that the actions of everyone should be accounted for and that I think the concept of ‘idols’ and ‘role models’ are way overrated, I do know that I haven’t seen an article in this capacity for any MALE fighter.
