Is getting your ears pierced at claires accesories a good idea?
Getting pierced with a gun is a terrible idea, no matter where you go. Guns cannot be sterilized, since they are plastic. Alcohol wipes clean, but don’t sterilize. The process of piercing an ear with a blunt earring causes a blood spray, minute particles of contagions that cover the surfaces around your ear. The earring itself rips through tissue, instead of making a clean cut, which usually leads to a greater amount of scar tissue. The manufacturers of piercing guns, for the most part, do not recommend they ever be used on anything but lobes, but many mall places pierce cartilage, nostrils, or whatever they can fit that gun on. Add to this the fact that most jewelry they use has a high nickel content, and are made of materials that many people are allergic or sensitive to.
