Is getting married at an early age a good or a bad thing?
Usually it’s not a good idea because the divorce rate for young marrieds is so high, but the most important thing (more important than when you marry) is having kids too soon. Once you have a child with someone you are legally tangled to them forever. If you divorce, it could be years in court and thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars fighting for custody. My husband married a psycho the first time around, had a daughter with her, and now the psycho ex has been the hardest thing of our marriage, has turned his daughter against him, and has cost him $300,000 in legal fees. Basically having a kid with her has destroyed a lot of his life. People tend to forget what will happen if they divorce as far as having a kid, but lawyers cost around $300/hour, and it’s really sad it all of your money you’ve spent your life earning has to go to lawyers and court fights. Whereas if you don’t have a child with someone and you get a divorce, you can just walk away and get on with your life.
