The department/school/faculty will have a policy in place. Your supervisor(s) should make an assessment of your skills needs, at least on an annual basis. Some training may be mandatory (for example, being able to design and prepare a conference poster); some may be recommended (for example, making use of Personal Development Planning) and some may not be needed because of your prior knowledge and experience.
