Is Generations Family Tree Still a Good Value?
First a little background to this product as the existence of Generations family tree software has had an unstable history of ownership and name. It was first marketed by Leister Productions as Reunion and developed for both Mac and Windows. Then in 1997 the windows version was sold to Sierra Online, which later changed its name to Sierra Home. The product had considerable time and effort invested in developing the product and was renamed Generations. Around 2001, it was sold to Broderbund that later renamed itself to genealogy.com. Even though Generations family tree has now been added to the software stable of genealogy.com, the publisher of Family Tree Maker and Family Origins, it is still distributed by Broderbund under the Broderbund label. It would appear that it is not actively promoted by genealogy.com like its stable mate Family Tree Maker.
