Henry Quinn, retired educator and lifelong space science enthusiast, voiced his concerns about the future of space exploration: When Gene Roddenberry originally conceived the premise for the original series, he liked it to a “Wagon Train” to the stars. Wagon Train was a TV series in the late 1950s-early 1960s highlighting a group of settlers leaving Missouri after the Civil War to travel through the plains and settle in California. Their dreams were to have a new beginning to a new world. Gene Roddenberry was able to portray this same concept in the original series and was an underlining theme in all its reincarnations.
