Is Gasification a New Technology?

0

No, its been around for over 100 years. Gasification was originally developed in the 1800s to produce town gas for lighting and cooking. Electricity and natural gas later replaced town gas for these applications, but the gasification process has been utilized for the production of synthetic chemicals and fuels since the 1920s. The gasification process used by Honua Power can convert forest residue, green waste, construction and demolition wood and waste, agricultural waste and energy crops – collectively called biomass – into a synthetic natural gas that is a direct substitute for natural gas. Historically, biomass gasification technologies have been based on coal gasification designs. These conventional coal based technologies do not take advantage unique chemical attributes of biomass. The Honua Power gasification process, however, was specifically designed to gasify biomass and utilize the high thermo-chemical reactivity of biomass.
