Is Galileo Galilei a name unknown to theists?
Seems you know nothing really of Galileo Galilei (except a limited propaganda campaign) if you don’t think theists know who he is. You realize he never renounced his faith, remained a theist (so therefore you are calling him ignorant to), is buried inside a Church and was asked to write and teach what he did by a Pope. His problem only came after he pissed off a Cardinal. And his heliocentrism was only one of 7 charges leveled against him as heresy. None of the rest were scientific. It also seems that you are unaware that Church accepted Heliocentrism in the 1750’s long before some scientist and schools. So is your question ignorance or refusal to find out? Soeliel needs to look up the defintion of peers. EDIT: Thomas Aquinas insisted on discovery via scientific methods too. Is that name unknown to you? EDIT: It is Aristotle and Ibn al-Haytham who are known as the Fathers of the Scientific Method. Afterall how could Aquinas promote the scientific method 300 years before Galilei birth i
Galileo Galileo was was a mathematician and philosopher and is known as the father of modern astronomy by his vast improvements to the telescope. Abandoned by the roman catholic church when he spoke out against Augustine taking the BOOK of the Psalms literally. The book of Psalms is not literal word of GOD but a Book of poetry and songs he believed. It is not the fact he denied Christianity but some people and some Churches interpretation of it!!
