Is Frozen Dead Guy Days a cryonics festival ?
As the man who maintains Grandpa, I admit that there is a lot of just partying and crass commercialization that goes on at the festivals. but that happens at every Festival. In truth, all the publicity has promoted "legitimate" cryonics more than anything else that has come along. People now have a working knowledge of what it means to be cryonically preserved, even if they’re pointing to the bearded guy encased in ice cubes on the front of their FDGD T-shirt. Every year, we get more and more people to see there is a deep philosophical side to what this is all about, much like Dias de los Muertos….
so, the answer would be yes, Frozen Dead Guy Days is a cryonics festival, much like Mardi Gras is a Catholic Holiday.
Frozen Dead Guy Days is a yearly festival in Nederland, Colorado that spoofs the storage of a former resident’s grandfather on dry ice. Almost none of the participants take cryonics seriously except, perhaps, the man who maintains the grandfather on dry ice. Cryonicists do not consider long-term storage on dry ice to be cryonics.
