Is freon covered under your air conditioners warranty?

0

Freon is the cooling ingredient in any air conditioner. It is in what is called the sealed system and is charged into the system at the factory. The sealed system in a household a/c or central air unit. Freon doesn’t evaporate or get used up so it is covered under the 5year warranty. Freon is never the cause of poor cooling that is caused by the failure of a part of the sealed system (the compressor, the condenser, the evaporator or the connecting tubing of these components. If something unnatural causes loss of freon such as unit falling out of the window etc. the warranty does not cover things like that. An important scam to watch out for is these fly by nighters who offer to check your a/c for a ridiculous low price. You should know that it is impossible for the unit to leak. Now a car a/c may need a charge of freon because the units are not sealed with silver solder but by flare connections so a slight loss of freon is possible but that’s a whole different question.
