Is Ford getting a discount rate at her hotel?
The state does not contract with hotels for a group discount for legislators. However, several hotels offer a government rate, available not only for legislators but for any government employee traveling on official business. Until several days ago, Ford stayed at the Sheraton Nashville Downtown hotel, which offers a $99 government rate but not on weekends. Now she is staying at the Holiday Inn Select on West End, which also has a government rate that she is paying. If she stays in Nashville when the legislature is not in session, she must pay for her own room those nights.
