Is food an important part of festivals and Pakistani community gatherings in South East Wales?
There is a large Pakistani community in Newport. We get together for various events such as weddings and religious festivals. Food is always an important part of the gathering. Usually finger food is served. We cook minced meat with split chickpeas, and then grind it and add herbs. The mixture is rolled into balls, dipped in egg and fried. We also serve samosas and other buffet foods.
