Way to go, Dad! Getting you son started early on NASCAR, but more importantly, spending time with him. Everyone has pretty much covered the bases: plenty of water, sunscreen, earplugs, a hat for the little guy. At least it’s in Feb. It’s a long race, definitely one where you can take shade breaks under the grandstands. They have plenty of televisions and the fans with the misters on them so you can cool off. Your seats in Sect 2 are straight across from pit road so you should see a lot of good pit action. You’re also pretty close to the start/finish line so the restarts should be good. Depending on how high up your row is you should be able to see some of the backstretch. Race starts at 1230 so I’d say if you planned on being there by 0900/0930 you should be ok. That being said, give yourself plenty of time to find your parking spot. Definitely follow the map to the green zone that’s on CA Spdwy’s website. Not sure where you are coming from, but do not get off at the 4th St exit. go up
