Is Focus on the Family still encouraging a boycott of Disney?

0

Answer Focus on the Family ceased promoting the Disney boycott in 2005 as a result of several changes we perceived in Disney corporate policy. Due to the positive signs at Disney, the American Family Association suspended its campaign against the company in May 2005. Also, at the Southern Baptist Convention in June, delegates voted to lift that organization’s long-term boycott against the entertainment giant. We continue to have some reservations about Disney, but remain cautiously optimistic that the tide is turning toward a more family-friendly atmosphere. In 2005, Disney co-produced a big-budget film based on the Christian literary classic The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis. This release brought a Christian worldview to faith-based and secular audiences alike. While indications point to a greater sensitivity to pro-family concerns, we will continue to monitor Disney’s activities and their commitment to producing sound, wholesome entertainment.
