Is Florida a peninsula or a cape?
You are correct that Florida is a peninsula…but incorrect that capes are larger than peninsulas. There are no size requirements for either. You are also incorrect that capes must be surrounded by water on three sides. Capes are simply defined as a piece of land which juts out into the sea or a large body of water. I can think of many capes which are not at all like peninsulas. Capa Alava in Washington (the westernmost point in the lower 48 states) is no more than a bump on the coastline. Same with Cape Hatteras on the North Carolina coast. You may be confused because some capes are, indeed, very much like peninsulas…such as Cape Cod. Whether such geographical features are called capes or peninsulas is arbitrary and it is possible for a geographic feature to be both.
