Is Flavored Milk Okay for Kids to Drink?
Milk is an excellent source of calcium, which is important for strong and healthy bones. All milk products and products made from milk, such as cheese and yogurt, are part of the milk food group. Most choices from the milk group should be fat-free or low fat. Chocolate or strawberry flavored milks are a way to include calcium in the diet for children who do not like plain milk. When available, choose fat-free or low-fat flavored milks. However, if sweetened milk products are chosen, the added sugars should be part of the discretionary calorie allowance.
