Is finding Lamanite DNA in the Americas important?
Since the Book of Mormon record is a true literal historical record, then one must consider its prophecies and promises. Should there be a genetic “remnant” of the House of Israel left on the Promised Land of the latter days? Read the following passage of scripture and you be the judge. “The whole face of the land had become covered with buildings, and the people were as numerous almost, as it were the sand of the sea.” (BoM Mormon 1:7) “And behold how great the covenants of the Lord, and how great his condescensions unto the children of men; and because of his greatness, and his grace and mercy, he has promised unto us that our seed shall not utterly be destroyed, according to the flesh, but that he would preserve them; and in future generations they shall become a righteous branch unto the house of Israel.” (BoM 2 Nephi 9:53) “And then shall the remnant of our seed know concerning us, how that we came out from Jerusalem, and that they are descendants of the Jews.” (BoM 2 Nephi 30:3 –
