Muggle – both parents were wizards though. He has no powers. Harry was playing chess and almost dying!

its not yet revealed in the books abt FILCH , but i think he is neither a wizard nor a muggle !its a guess though ! harry cldnt make to quidditch matche in the first book bcoz of that stone thing and whole scene abt PROF. QUIRRILE moreover bcoz of all the happenings and stuff both exams and match were cancelled !

filch was born to magic parents but shows no sign of being magic himself, this is known as a squib second the reason harry does not make it to the last quidditch match is because he is in the hospital wing after almost dying trying to keep voldemort/quirrel from getting the philosophers stone

MR FILCH IS A SQUIB. HARRY DOES NOT MAKE IT TO THE LAST QUIDDITCH MATCH COS HE LOSES CONCIOUSNESS AFTER THE FIGHT WITH QUIRREL AFTER WHICH HE LIES IN THE HOSPITAL WING.
