Yes, it is. A virtual IP address is used. Master and standby have there own physical IP addresses and only the actual master assigned to it. Fids3 integrates sophisticated ‘heartbeat’ high-availability software also used by the German software giant SAP. To prevent fatal, so-called ‘Split Brain’ situations redundant communication (a network and a serial line) channels parallel used for observation. The standby version of Fids3 is only available under Linux operation system.
