Is FFR applicable when a patient has diffuse disease?
Yes. If a pullback curve is done during sustained hyperemia, it shows a gradual decline of pressure along the coronary artery. This also identifies patients who cannot be helped by PTCA. If, however, there is a sudden pressure drop somewhere in the vessel, treating that particular segment with PTCA or stenting may be useful.
