It is known to be safe for breastfeeding moms when they want to increase thier milk supply. It is also a good way of eleviating masitits. There are side effects to some mums which include diarrhea, a ‘maple syrup’ odour in urine and if taken in high doses (not reccomended) can cause worsening of asthmatic symptoms and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
