Is feminism relevant today?
I think it is, especially in Colombia due to the armed conflict. Women have been displaced, subjected to sexual violence, and used as spoils of war. The conflict has prompted them to set up organizations and seek empowerment, however. What is your opinion about feminism in Colombia today? The local feminist movement is highly fragmented. We are playing the game of patriarchate, unfortunately. I never fight against other women. I try to build a bridge between academicians and activists, and socialize feminist discourse. We meet every Wednesday at the Womens Caf to discuss a wide range of topics, especially feminism and masculinity. Are there feminist men? No, there are not. Some men express solidarity with women, but they can not feel what we feel. Do you think that womens institutionalization has weakened feminism?
