Is Female firefighting different?

Fires don’t care if your Male or Female, and you would take the same training as any other FireFighter. Things to think about though are stuff like I weigh almost 100lbs more in wet bunker gear. You need good upper body strength to handle charged Lines, forcible entry equipment, etc. Your Cardio needs to be very good, you can’t be bothered by tight spaces, some people have trouble in SCBA gear because they feel closed in. Depending on your position with a Dept. the demands on your mind and body can be very different. Depending on where you are some Dept. have Junior Firefighters, or Fire Cadets where you could get a better Idea of what it’s all about. Your best bet Is to talk to your local Fire Dept. I’m sure they would be Happy to help.
