I think so. I think a lot of people cling to religion because of the fear of not knowing what happens after we die. They want to believe so badly that there is something afterwards, something better and that good people get rewarded while bad people get punished. Also, not knowing WHY we are here, religion gives people a reason to keep on going everyday. The thought that we are just here because of some random chance event and then evolved over billions of years for no reason doesn’t sit well with people. People need something to believe in, and faith in God and religion keeps them going.
