Alcatel-Lucent NAS products allow the definition of up to three accounting servers and three authentication servers, other vendors. NAS may differ slightly. If the primary server fails, the NAS device communicates with the secondary server for authentication. If the secondary server fails, the NAS device communicates with the tertiary server. This approach holds true for accounting servers as well.
