Is Fairford Leys subject to flooding?
Housing on Fairford Leys is not, and has not been, affected by flooding. Specific ditches have been built to carry excess water away from the riverine corridor (Hartwell Ditch) and this seems to be working well. However, this does mean that some footpaths in the riverine corridor are subject to flooding in periods of heavy rain. It should be pointed out that while other parts of the country suffered severe flooding in recent winters, no house on FL has been flooded. If any of you have received warnings about flooding in Fairford Leys or have had this issue raised by your solicitor when buying a house in the village, please be aware that is based on out-of-date postcode information.
