Is factory farming the most inhumane industry?

0

The word ‘factory’ says it all. These are living creatures and should not be regarded as normal factory products. The short and miserable lives which these poor animals lead before they are slaughtered is just horrible. At least one can console oneself if an animal is free range that it has had an enjoyable life before it is slaughtered but some of the stories which we hear now are heart breaking. The only thing we can do is either become vegetarians or refuse to buy the products of such cruelty. I would rather pay more for ‘free range’ products.

I saw half a documentary once about chicken farms. I could only watch half as it was so distressing. We are a meat eating family and due to our location are given the opportunity to buy whole cow, venison and pig. The quality of meat is amazing and all the animals are bread in outdoor environments. However we like many families are tying to save money so the option of supermarket meat is always there and as we have four boys (they eat loads) we often get the multi deals that I know are from these factory farming places. I guess an ideal world would ensure that all animals bread for eating would be reared humanly and slaughtered in as much of a pain free way as possible, I can only hope that they regulate these places more and give out stronger punishments to those that continue in this practise. EDIT ~~ in response I can only say that the idea of pulling out pigs teeth and dipping chickens in acid, to me makes no sense whatsoever. I can only conclude that this in some barbaric way incr

I am a confirmed and happy meat eater who loves nothing more than a steak or half a chicken. I also have knowledge of farming The meat sold in most stores especially pork and chicken comes from animals so mis treated it is absolutely sick. Eggs are exactly the same way. Not 100 yards from me 8 pigs share approximately half to two thirds of an acre, when sold the farmer will sell them for 130 pounds a side butchered, that’s a lot of meat. Yet mass produced pork would find approx 160-200 pigs if not more in that same area, pregnant sows have to be placed in metal cages to support their weight. Weaners (piglets) are literally crushed to death. When anyone buys pork from the supermarket the average age of the pig would be 3 to 3 and a half months prior to slaughter, Free range pork is typically 9-12 months. Free range necessarily does not mean more expensive at all and it tastes so much better. Taste some real free range bacon or ham then try the stuff in the supermarket Chicken is a total
