Is experience in medicine/dentistry (volunteer or paid) required to gain admission into medical/dental school?

Currently, most medical/dental schools do not REQUIRE experience in a medical/dental field for admission; however, they do value it strongly and look very favorably on such experience in an applicant. We’ve seen trends that lead us to believe that the professional schools will soon begin to require some experience before allowing a student to apply for admission. Thus, a word to the wise, as soon as possible (even if you are still in high school), get involved in a healthcare setting. It does not matter if it is paid or volunteer, just get in there!
