Is expansion of Lindbergh a viable option?
I think expansion of Lindbergh and developing the infrastructure there is something that needs to be aggressively expanded. You need to do all that you can to get the maximum use out of Lindbergh Field. Because after all, it’s going to take 10 or 15 years to get an airport anyway. Did Dick Murphy do the right thing in resigning? Absolutely. He should never have run in the rest place. As a manager, when somebody comes in and they say they’re going to leave, you may try to talk them out of it, I’ll give you a pay raise, what do you want, what are you upset about? And nine times out of 10 you can’t talk them out of it. And that one time when you do talk them out of it, it never works out. And this is the same thing with Dick Murphy. It wasn’t in his heart to run (the second time). These people pressured him to run. And we saw what the result was. Would you continue to try to build the new downtown library or would you shelve it? I think that having a downtown library is a wonderful thing.
