Is Evangelion coming out on DVD?
If you live in a Region 2 DVD zone (Europe and Japan mainly) and can speak Japanese, you’re in luck because the entire series and all the movies are available in Japan on DVD already. However, if you’re not, you’re not quite so lucky. ADV Films are starting to release the TV series on multi-lingual DVDs (English, Japanese, French and Spanish dub tracks and at least English subtitles) in the Region 1 and 4 zones. The movies will also come out on DVD, as mentioned above, and will also be English dub & sub. They will (presumably) be released on DVD in all territories where Manga Entertainment are committed to releasing DVDs. As for the TV series DVDs, as it currently stands, there is probably little chance of them getting released outside the US in the foreseeable future. ADV has made little inroad into the US DVD market since they started releasing DVDs in January 1999, and have shown little interest in releasing DVDs in other nations.
