Is Epsom salt the same as salt you would eat on food?or what is the definition?
Table salt is sodium chloride, NaCl. Epsom salt is hydrated magnesium sulfate, with the formula MgSO4 – 7H2O. You can eat epsom salt, but I wouldn’t advise it. It works as a laxative. ;-)) (BTW, the definition of a “salt” is any metallic element chemically combined with any nonmetal. Ferric Chloride is a salt. Sodium Citrate is a salt.
