Is Email Direct/Post Direct quicker than the previous service?
YES! The previous service estimated 5-10 working days to supply an article. Tests using Email Direct have shown that standard requests are often filled within 24-48 hours of submission – but only a 3-5 day service can be guaranteed. If you need the article urgently we would still recommend a guaranteed Urgent Action service – contact the Library for more details of this service. Post Direct is able to supply articles within 3-5 daysof submission (postal service permitting). The new services remove a layer of handling of the request by Medical Library staff, but not by the British Library. While the speed of delivery will be much improved, it will not be an “instant” service.
