Is elementary teaching a good career choice?
Teaching is a rewarding, stressful, hectic, but fun career that really doesn’t pay well to start. Some days are wonderful, Other days I wish that I worked somewhere that I could go to the bathroom when I wanted, or just sit down and take a few minutes to breathe. Liking kids is a big plus, but keep in mind that it’s not all standing around and watching kids all day, thinking how cute they are. Yes, they are cute, and many times they will do things to make you laugh and cry. They will also get angry with you for making them follow rules, or do challenging work when they’d rather just socialize. Some may be aggressive verbally, or even physically in extreme cases, and some will just completely ignore you. Through all of that, you have to help them learn, and you need to have proof that they have learned, or you could lose your job. This sounds like I hate teaching, but really I love it.
