Is electrocardiogram an effective test for heart diseases?
Electrocardiogram is the test that records the action of the heart in the electric form. During the test, strips of heat sensitive papers are applied to the patients limbs and chest by connecting the wires to the instruments for recording by electrocardiograph. It is considered an effective diagnostic test for heart diseases. However, there are some limitations with the test. For instance, in case of a very recent heart attack, the recordings may be normal or near normalcy or either way in case of attacks after a few hours or days, the examination may be abnormal, even if patient is recovering.
