Is EchoLink available for a PDA, such as a Windows Pocket PC?
Many handheld computers (PDAs) and smart phones now have wireless networking and audio capability, so in theory they could be used for VoIP applications such as EchoLink if appropriate software were developed. However, at this time there is no project underway to port the existing EchoLink software to a platform such as PocketPC. One problem is that many parts of the application would need to be extensively re-written to accomodate the smaller screen; this typically calls for a completely different user-interface design. A second problem is that PDAs tend to differ quite a bit from one model to another (more so than PCs), so producing a stable, reliable program can be more difficult.
