Is Easter turning into a “gift giving” holiday?
It does seem to be. My wife has been going on a spending binge, buying toys and candy for Easter baskets for our son, every child in our family, and all our son’s classmates. This has happened in past years, but never before to the extent that it has this year. And we’re not talking little presents, either! It has been escalating up to a Christmas-level of gifts very quickly. What’s more, I’ve noticed many other Christmas-like elements sneaking into Easter: • My son received a letter from the Easter Bunny. I don’t know which relative paid for it, but it was the usual poorly-written, painful piece of garbage from some hack service. Now, I write my son’s Christmas letter every year for him, and I work hard on it; I find it really annoying when he receives some lame form letter like that.
