NO. There are two types of quality here not to be confused; 1, the quality of the recording and 2, the quality of the data or video being recorded. The quality of the recording in digital is how clean is the “1” or “0”. This is different depending on size and recording speed of the tape. However, in the digital world, unlike the old analog world, the quality of the data or in this case video is the same. A dirty “1” is the same in digital as a clean “1”. A digital tape has to be so poor or badly deteriorated as to not to be able to differentiate a “1” from a “0” before quality is lost or different. Imagine the same data or video inside the computer. The ones and zeros on the hard drive are all the same regardless of what tape they came from. A simple example to prove this is a professional Sony Camcorder that can record in DV or DVCam.
