Is dualism a valid philosophy ?
Ok, let’s see if I can remember some of my one philosophy class’s teachings… Valid doesn’t mean right, or true, it just means following its own assertions logically, not breaking the rules like contradicting something already established as true. Like “A man is an Elephant. Jerry is a man. Therefore Jerry is an elephant.” Valid logic, whether the’re true statements or not. So, if dualism can build a set of beliefs that do that, it’s a valid philosophy in a way. But you may want to ask whther the premises it used for its foundation are true – like are our minds really not a product of our bodies, etc. That may be impossible to ever finally resolve, though many people today feel strongly in either direction.
