In this regards, an expatriate is someone who is living temporarily or permanently in a country other than that of his legal residence. The term, expatriate, is synonymous to anyone who has simply decided to live in another country, but still maintains his original nationality or anyone who has renounced his previous citizenship. Going by this definition, simply relocating to another country does not mean loss of existing citizenship. Alternatively, becoming an expatriate does not mean you are a criminal or anti-patriotic. Simply put, expatriation denotes that you have decided to live in any particular country because of financial, political, or any reason whatsoever.
